Sohlmulacrum Volume I: Abode to Terrodia
While still a work in progress, Sohlmulacrum is a planned 6-book novel series by Laurentia Spirek. Abode to Terrodia is the first entry in this series.
In the orbit of a red dwarf star in the distant Andromeda Galaxy, turmoil brews beneath the surface of the planet Abode. Settled in bioengineered subterranean galleries beneath Abode’s surface exists a eusocial xeno-insectoid civilization. Following a family tragedy, an afflicted nymph named Auphula grapples with sun-born hallucinations sparking revelations that threaten the ancient eusocial order of her insectoid society.
From royal nymphs like Ryakhe to well-connected escorts like the emissary Terrhod, Auphula gathers followers across the various insectoid colonies dwelling in Abode’s underworld. In doing so, she fans the flames of a global revolution promising to transform their meager species into immortal, space-faring beings.
Sohlmulacrum is fundamentally a play on words, as it is intended to be a simulacrum of the hurt inflicted upon the world and humankind by humankind. But instead of humans being the protagonistic species, I have chosen eusocial xeno-insectoids sustaining, crawling, and building subterranean galleries in their home world. This is a project years in the making, still needing months to develop and fully write.
