Sighs of a Once-Defeated Heart: A Melancholy Poetry & Prose Collection.

Contained within is a menagerie of the author's meditations on grief, depression, suicidality, and gradually coming to terms with her queer identity, queer attraction, and having all of the epiphanies one can have while growing up in atomized white suburbia as a deeply-suppressed-queer autistic teenager. Additionally contained within are all of the rhymes and revelations that came after she shattered the shell of perception that she felt trapped upon her transitioning to womanhood, unmasking her autistic and transgender identities, and experiencing the full gamut of her unique human feeling.

While mostly melancholy as the collection eponymously suggests, there are also biting social critiques and ecstatic expressions of love and beauty embedded in between the stretches of sadness and vulnerability contained within. Varying from major depression to maddening moral injury; from euphoric attraction to profound heartbreak; from the distant stars that breathe life into the Cosmos to the soil under our feet that subsumes it, the poems and prose explore the interconnected beauty and complexity of experience, and all of the emotion that accompanies it.
